God Still Does Wonderful Things

We were at a retreat at a church that was planted out of the church I am part of (http://www.metrolife.org), and the teaching had to do with who God is in His power. In the book of Acts, we see a God who is alive and active, who does wonderful things. As we read Scriptures, we get to know this God who still does wonderful things. His power has not died down, and we can learn about Him and grow in our relationship with Him, because of what He has given us, when He sent His Son to live among us 2,000 years ago. The Bible talks about the Gospel being the power of God.
Our friends, a man who was a pastor at our church who was sent up to a church in Gainesville, and his wife, now serve there. While we were at the meeting, I was made aware of a condition that our friend had with her ear. She had gone deaf in one of her ears, and had been tested by the doctor as well as put on medications and treatments to try to bring the hearing back, but sadly, nothing worked. From what the doctor told her, when this kind of thing happens in the ear, from what they could determine was wrong with it, she would not ever regain her hearing in that ear.
That Friday evening, there was a time of prayer and ministry, and there was a specific time of prayer for my friend. I have heard good reports about our visit there for that retreat, but what I heard happened to her was the best. My friend's hearing was restored that night. She could hear now, and the doctor doesn't really have an explanation of why her hearing came back. We know what happened. God had shown His loving-kindness and mercy to my friend, along with His healing touch. May we believe in this God who is merciful and powerful, and who shows Himself mighty to those who fear His name.
